CHAPTER 2 August: With Shri Mahalaxmi’s blessings...
Ragav packed all the essentials needed
that were needed at the Engineering hostel. Everyone in the neighbourhood greeted
him well wishes for his future. For them
it was not a surprise because he lived in an Water Project area where you will find min two engineer in
a family. Its it true that 1.5 million engineers pass out every year and Ragav
was one of them not a big deal.
Kolhapur the
historic city situated at the banks of river Panchganga founded by Chhatrapati
Tarabai and under the reign of
Chhatrapati’s of Kolhapur, especially under the legendry Rajarshi Shahu
Chhatrapati Maharaj and Rajaram Chhatrapati Maharaj is one of the best cities
in Maharashtra. You will be first greeted with the word “bhava..” (Brother) and
also other “typical” words you’ll get to hear only from a Kolhapurkar.
Just
like the Indian Tradition whenever you start a new job or any good deed you
always pray to the Gods and Goddesses in the heaven. Ragav and his family went
to Mahalaxmi Temple to have the blessing for his bright future. Mahalaxmi
Temple is considered as one of the holiest temple in hindu religion. The one
who truly prays from the bottom of the heart will have the blessing of
Mahalaxmi Godess . With all the blessings Ragav set to his destination that is
his hostel.
The KIT is
situated out of the city area, but still due to good highway facility you can reach
there safe and sound without any efforts. Ragav got his luggage from the van
and gazed to hostel building. The scene just appeared like the late 80-90s Bollywood
movies where the prisoner is greated with Jailor and the Prisoner is cuffed in
and sent to his cellars. Here though it appeared to be a student prison but
still it was pleasant place on the first encounter. The warden of the Hostel
was an ex army with having a good experience in handling the soldiers. These army
people always behave in an attitude like they are at Indo-Pak border with collars
tight and full discipline but still the soft corner remains in their heart.
Thanks to warden’s discipline and also with new rules for the Anti Ragging the
hostel was free from any ragging activities. At least Ragav didn’t need to fear
the burden of seniors and their ways of torturing like the other hostels in big
cities.
Ragav
met with the room mates and other people around the hostel. Room mates are just
like the family members, even family members don’t know the secrets about their
kid but these room mates do. Akki , Manoj and Harsh were the room mates.
Introducing and getting introduced was the major activity few days at the
hostel . The food was available at the hostel mess. Though they didn’t provide the
five star food but still you have to adjust with the condition( Remember the
Theory of Adaptation).Still life seemed to be awesome at the hostel ....
